All Saints Chapel - Figure 1
This little Chapel was constructed for a private kindergarten through twelfth grade school in Dallas, Texas. The architect wanted some excitement in the Chapel that the young students could relate to more than a traditional chapel. It is a prime example of “The Process of the Art of Engineering.”
Thomas Taylor of Datum Engineers has had a strong interest in the structurally interesting tensegrity sculptures of Kenneth Snelson. Mr. Snelson was a student of Buckminister Fuller and has a strong and wonderful insight into structural aspects of the universe. Mr. Taylor enjoys quoting Mr. Snelson when they were collaborating on a roof structure in the 1970s. Mr. Snelson mused, “I have one failing in life. I have no interest in anything useful!” He was not interested in dealing with roof leaks.
