Figure 8 is an interesting view that reflects some of the subtle aspects of The Art of Structural Engineering Process. Weld plates are required to connect the tilt wall panels together. Traditional tilt wall construction has these weld plates located on the inside face of the panels, which would have exposed them to view and taken away from the appearance of the space. Therefore, we installed the weld plates on the outside of the panels, where they would be covered up by the brick veneer. Subtle concepts like this make a major contribution to the success of the space.
