Seton Women's Center

The new Women's Center at Seton Medical Center in Austin was featured as the cover story for Structural Engineer magazine's November, 2009 issue. 
 
This was a very complex addition sandwiched between the existing hospital and an adjacent medical office building.  Four of the upper levels were required to clear span over the existing emergency department, which had to remain in operation throughout the process.  Lead engineer Marty Sloan from Datum and the architect, STG Design, worked to locate story-height trusses in the mechanical penthouse to cantilever and suspend the new building over the ED.
