“It’s a beautiful building, but one that’s also very functional and efficient.” This statement was expressed by Dr. David E. Daniel, deputy chancellor of the UT System and former UT Dallas president at the opening ceremony.

The 220,000 sq. ft. structure is the university's largest academic building. It houses programs in bioengineering and neuroscience, as well as research space for related programs in biology and chemistry. With 4 levels above grade and one level below, the structure incorporates interdisciplinary teaching and research spaces, 60 laboratories and a theater.
