Architect: Philip Johnson
In 1998, the Amon Carter Trustees announced plans to expand the museum to provide three times the existing space for the display of art. While the original building was retained, the additions from 1964 and 1977 were removed and an expanded structure was build. The overall size of the museum was increased by nearly 50,000 square feet. Amon Carter Museum reopened to the public on October 21, 2001.
